I'm running as an independent progressive because Oshawa was built on blue collar grit and working class solidarity—Send a fighter to regional council and let's restore both together. This year you can cast your ballot online! If you're over 18 and live in Oshawa, you're eligible to vote.Election day is TODAY! Monday, October 26, 2026. What inspired me to join this race:◘ I'm not a politician, but my incumbent was going to be acclaimed.Taxes, taxes, taxes◘ I'm in favour of a property tax freeze or a reduction of our reserve funds, or both. There's currently over $1.2B in unallocated, Regional property faxes in our reserve fund.◘ No more tax hikes just for Developer handouts and bloated police bureaucracy. It might not feel like it, but our police budget is outpacing actual crime; the per-capita crime rate in Durham Region hasn't seen significant, sustained increases but spending has increased by over 50% in only a few years.◘ I want to refund our public services and prioritise seniors, students, and working class families. If elected, I'll vote in favor of every-day services that help make your days easier.◘ Our public assets are not for sale. I will oppose privatisation of our utilities and services at every turn.Homeowners & Tenants◘ I will reintroduce the expanded Residential Rental Housing Licensing (RRHL) program that my incumbent Bob Chapman voted against.
◘ I'm running on a Housing First platform. That means permanently affordable homes for you and your family, built by local labour.
◘ If elected I will introduce a Right to Organise resolution for any tenant unions/coalitions in Durham Region.◘ The incumbent helped close the Salvation Army's housing support program that displaced 200 people, including children. For residents in transition, I will vote to expand services, security and funding to the existing Micro Homes project (and throughout the city). It is unconscionable that almost 2,000 people in Durham Region are homeless/underhoused in such a wealthy province. You and I have the same healthcare.◘ The assault on healthcare, especially treatment for substance-use disorder and mental health, by the province must be ruthlessly fought and I'll oppose any cuts or threats to staffing or funding.Developers need to grow with us◘ There's more to Oshawa than just a place to turn a quick buck. For our business partners, I'm in favour of expanding the existing Community Benefit Charge into an Agreement that mandates local hiring, jobs training, and youth employment.Investing more in lucrative and alternative industries like film and green energy projects◘ We should aggressively promote the provincial tax credits and rebates for low-mid budget film/TV productions, along with our Film Friendly designation and $0 permit fees.Transit!
◘ No billion-dollar gondolas. For busses, we can convert a diesel to electric--both cheaper and faster than buying one brand new from out-of-province. Milton has already done this with great success.
◘ I will lobby to restore the express Oshawa-Pickering GO train service.

I work in film as production assistant. In the Locations department, that means a lot of physical labour, janitorial stuff and interfacing with the community. It's a lot of heavy lifting, both physically and mentally, but I love it. Here are some of my credits.
